Grilled Watermelon by Kelly

Amazing but true! You can grill watermelon. It is a great different way to serve watermelon. Instead of treating it like a fruit, try treating it like a vegetable. If you have chosen a firm watermelon, slice it into planks or steak like slices. I prefer to make them about 3/4ths of an inch in thickness.

I grill watermelon in two ways.

1) sprinkle with a spicy cajun type of seasoning like Tony Cachrese

2) or, sprinkle it with curry powder

then,

spritz it with something like a spray olive oil (or plain corn oil spray)

and cook it on the BBQ pit.

I cook it until it's lightly toasted on each side.

Use a wide spatula to turn it over. Should only turn it over one time. Too often and it can fall apart.

This is a really unusual way to server watermelon, but everyone who has tried it, really likes it.
